COVID - 19 Updates

COVID-19 Update – March 17, 2022

Cooper Funeral Home operates under a provincial license as granted by the Bereavement Authority of Ontario ("The BAO") and as such is subject to the guidelines and restrictions put forth by The BAO.  Over the last 2 years, there has been a constant fluctuation of restrictions and requirements placed on us by the BAO, the Province of Ontario and the various health units under which we operate.  These restrictions have been a source of much angst and heartache for many people enduring the hardest season of their lives.

Effective March 17, 2022, the directives from the BAO in keeping with provincial guidelines have all been repealed.  At this time, we are permitted to return to pre-COVID practices and procedures.  This means that masks, physical distancing and other health and safety protocols are no longer required by law.

At Cooper Funeral Home, we are aware that many people are anxious to set the global pandemic behind us and to "get on with living", while at the same time, many people are anxious that we are now at that point where no restrictions exist any longer.  We pledge to continue to respect the feelings and concerns of all those who enter our facility or come in contact with our business in any way.

There may be some families who, for varied reasons, prefer to maintain a mask requirement for visitation or service attendees.  Some families may still prefer to hold smaller, more intimate services and follow distancing guidelines.  These options still exist for our clients, along with any of the other options that came into being as a result of the pandemic.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, many new ideas have been pioneered and these remain as options for our client families. They include, but are not limited to:

  • Live-streaming of services, accessed through our website
  • Video Condolence messages on our Book of Memories ® tribute websites
  • Arrangement conferences made on video chat if unable or uncomfortable meeting in person
  • RSVP option to monitor attendance at services and visitations
  • ZOOM attendance at visitation to allow for family to attend virtually when attendance in person is not possible
  • Mask wearing and/or physical distancing controls at the family's request

Please bear in mind that many people will not be comfortable in crowded situations yet and it is important to recognize and respect the "personal space" of all individuals.

Throughout the months of dealing with this pandemic, we at Cooper Funeral Home have taken steps to care for our community while at the same time doing what we can to meet the needs of our families.  Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we do our best to meet your needs within the confines of the health restrictions.

In all situations, we pledge, as always, to do our absolute best to meet the needs of our families and our community and to live up to our motto, which is:

“Serving You As We Would Be Served”
